There was a time when my family was practicing Orthodox Judaism and we had an electricity-free Sabbath (Fri night through Sat night). No TV, no music even. We played board games, card games, read books, took naps. It's one of those things where when you're involved in a community that does it, it isn't that hard, and you get to enjoy it. Saturdays were always so quiet.
I'd rather do whatever the hell I want though.
In any case, I don't watch much TV, and when I do it's on my own terms. As a kid I was a TV junkie. Of course now I'm an internet junkie instead...
