I definitely didn't mean to imply one should follow my example. I was just sharing my lucky fortune.
I sold that car when it had 212,000 miles on it. It was still in excellent shape and was getting the same mileage as when it was new (it was a '96 and was getting a combined 22/23 MPG).

We still go to the same mechanic we have been using for 15 years and there is no way we would ever change. We still drive all the way up to Montclair (about 20 miles away) to have him work on our cars. He has saved me a LOT of money of the years and does an excellent job.
