I agree that the premise, based on the scant information in the news report, is unfounded. If this guy was angry, armed, and believed the government was against him, I suspect he was unhinged well before Barack Obama was elected. That said election was an aggravating factor seems a reasonable conclusion, but did right-wing ideology drive an otherwise normal person to murderous lunacy? In this specific case, not enough information to go on, but I doubt it.

For what it's worth, I am acquainted with a (presently jailed) person who spouts disturbing radical right ideas now, but years ago, spouted radical left ideology, and has showed violent tendencies throughout his life.

I have a family full of Limbaugh-loving, Obama-distrusting, very right wing conservatives, and they are all open, warm, rational people who are just as horrified by such violence as I am. (And yes, they are sure that left wing ideology leads to nihilism, renunciation of rights, maybe even genocide. How my eyes roll.)
