ooookkaaay.
And I won't deny an over-reaction at the cabin ... but the other four did not react in any such way because they did not believe themselves to be the CAUSE of the traumatic situation, whereas I did.
In any event, when Bill was sweet enough to comfort me when I ran from the room crying at the reminder of a traumatic moment of horrible guilt, he could well have told me to get a grip - and I would have understood that to mean I was over-reacting. I wouldn't have thought it cruel. Maybe it's a boy thing.
It's not code. And I don't think it's the horribly cruel barb some people are making it out to be. It's certainly blunt and direct. A lot less blunt and direct than a punch in the face.
