I've never been one to celebrate Cinco de Mayo (being from the South I guess I never really understood what it's all about; but then again does anyone else?), but today when John came home early and with it being such a gorgeous day outside, I suggested we go to Cisco's for lunch (my ulterior motive really being on snagging one of their "mean green" Cisco dogs on black t-shirts that they were out of last time we went), after all it was Cinco de Mayo.
So, down Anaheim we went. John was lamenting on our way there that we'd probably not see Jesse James since it was already after the lunch crunch. We got there, ordered our burgers and sat. When they came and we began eating, suddenly John noticed Jesse James get up from one of the booths. He'd been there all along, but we'd just failed to notice him. He hung around a while and then left after signing an autograph for one of the diners. Finally seeing him really made John's day.
We then headed off to do our grocery shopping at Ralph's closer to home. While there, we spotted a woman and her husband. How do I describe her? Her hair, her makeup. Three words came to mind as we were checking out: Republican, poodle, Kabuki.
Standing in line behind John I whispered close into his ear, so they would not overhear me. "What exactly IS that hair color?" You just had to see it. It was a sort of brown that seemed to radiate with a pistachio glow. But it was also her makeup, that whitish/puce blush with her highly arched contrasting eyebrows (although I hestiate to use that term, as I don't think there was any living hair follicles there) which really gave her a truly distrubing appearance.
Later, in the car, John remarked that she reminded him of a comic cartoon. We got home and looked it up on Google and lo, and behold, it's her(!) only all grown up and shopping at the 7th Street Ralph's.
Sad to say, she clearly was not with Sluggo.
