We live next door to a big, beautiful park. It's got acres of woods and a lake and, in the soil,
blastomycosis. If a dog digs in the dirt, spores lodge in his lungs and kill him. It's horrible. People also can get this. It's fatal for us, too.
We do not let Jack the beagle romp in the water or dirt in that park. He does get to take long walks there, though. That's safe.
Since we
are right next door to Blasto Central, could it be that our garden has it, too? Why, yes. Yes, it could. But let's hope not.
Oh, and 1 in 4 ticks here carry Lyme Disease.
