I don't mind the twist. It seems it's just a way to get her down the Rabbit hole with more motivation. I actually like the "return to Wonderland" concept, and I think Lewis Carol used that as well in the "Looking Glass" sequel.
In any event, this was taylor-made for Burton's sensibilities. I feel better with him remaking a tale that's been told dozens of times and has as many legitimate interpretations, rather than a singular story like Apes or Wonka.
Burton's been rather hit and miss the last ... um, few decades. I really, really hope he hits with this one. I LOVE the look ... but that's one area where he rarely misses. And a Look does not a movie make.
