Thanks to all. It was an interesting birthday, for sure.
Started the day by having a minor anxiety attack over the new window moulding - our contractor assured me it would look great (he was right).
Then, a full day at the office. My boss took me to lunch at a local counter-service restaurant. He had a coupon.
A planned dinner with Heather was augmented by two friends visiting from out-of-town (this was a good thing), but another person we hoped to join us got stuck at work (which was a small disappointment). The dinner proved to be the highlight of the day (good food and good conversation is tough to beat).
Finally, we went to the Echoplex to see Os Mutantes, a show I was becoming increasingly ambivalent about over the last few weeks. The "reunion" of the classic '60s Brazilian tropicalia band was basically the original guitar player and all new musicians. His guitar work was wonderful, but everything else was pretty crappy. Don't need to see them again.
On the whole, while nothing spectacular happened, nothing dramatically awful happened either. I got to spend quality time with Heather, have some good phone calls with family and friends, and the dogs are all doing ok - and I'm grateful for all of these things.
Tomorrow (Sunday), Heather is going to be in Vegas for work, so I'm going to bring a couple of my Memphian friends to Disneyland. We'll be there from noonish til after the fireworks. If anyone wants to meet up...
