I knew I should have taken public transportation!

Loved the movie. It's one of the few Kubricks that I had never seen on the big screen. We sat toward the front to fully appreciate the hugeness.

The print wasn't pristine - but it was a remaster from 2002, so I imagine it's the best it's going to look on film. Aside from some particularly dirty spots around the reel changes, it wasn't too bad. The soundtrack (particularly the music) was in stereo. I need to do my research, but I think that the original prints were in mono. It sounded terrific.

My friend and I were playing "spot the character actor"' throughout the film. While Kubrick was castigated for casting Ryan O'Neal in the title role (the critics were wrong - Kubrick was right), veteran actors like Leonard Rossiter and Murray Melvin steal the show.

Once again, a triumph for the Egyptian Theater. I love that place.
