So, the story is actually rather silly, and completely "us".

Sometime around 1 PM or so, I get a call at the office from J, asking if I could get out of work early... that there was something cool going on that he wanted to check out. Since I've been slammed for the last two weeks, the offer was tempting, but there was just so much to do, and I'm not sure I could do it. Besides, our director was in the office, and calling us in at random for different things. J said, "Well, I am still leaving work early. They've got a generator hooked up, and it smells bad..." blah, blah, blah. I say, "I'll see what I can do.

Well, hours go by, and I'm still just trying to plow through some work. Finally, it's close to 5, and I have enough work to justify bringing in a cot and working through the weekend. But, I'm wiped, and I just had to go. It had been one hell of a week.

It takes at least 45 minutes to get home, and I was already hungry. I called the house, and ask J to start marinating the salmon I had in the fridge. When I walk through the door, the thought of fresh salmon was too much to bear and after a quick hug and a kiss, I dash to the kitchen to start pre-heating the stove.

Out of nowhere, J is in the kitchen too, saynig, "No, don't do that yet."

"What? We need to preheat the oven to start cooking."

"I know this is in the wrong order, but..."

Arms outstretched, J asked, "Wanna get hitched?!"

"Yeah, sure..."

Turning back toward J from the stove, I realize that J is on one knee, and that I didn't give him a serious answer. Which, of course, was yes. The serious answer, that is.

We never did eat any salmon. We did, however, find the perfect ring.

I'm so excited. I know there's going to be a lot of planning, but this is a super low-key thing. I do know that we will be having parties in both California and Florida - that maybe we'll keep the wedding smaller to accommodate bigger bashes with our hometown friends and family.

We'll see.

Again, thanks for all the congratulations.
