Are Macs more vulnerable to power fluctuations?

Relax Macolytes, this isn't an Apple-hater thread, I'm just curious about something.

We had some power outages on campus last night/this morning. We've had about a dozen Mac users call to say their Macs won't power up but no calls from PC users. We're a predominantly PC campus, so this surprises me. Has anyone ever heard anything about Macs being more vulnerable to power surges?
