So....I am so glad to be through this day!
I knew it was gonna be a long one, but all things considered it went really well. This morning, I had to go into work and do a wedding party- I've known the bride since she was Tori's age and she is just a sweetheart. I did her hair and three or four other heads, and then raced off to get Tori ready for her recital across town. She is in a cheerleading/hip hop class, but her teacher is normally a jazz/ballet teacher, and this is her first class of cheer/hip hop. The girls have been extremely put out because they have so many jazz moves in their number, and they didn't think it would be as cool as another class that takes place at the same time as theirs. To be honest, us moms thought the same. As a result, the girls just kind of slogged through their practice and had no real enthusiasm, so we were just hoping that they would all get through this thing and get it over with.
Well, I don't know what happened, but for some reason their whole routine just clicked, for the first time, and the most important time. They all just gave it their best and it was
so great! I feel like I owe their teacher a huge apology, but I never expressed my concerns to her, so the next best thing is to enroll Tori in one of her Jazz classes. The 'cool' routine kind of fell flat, and our girl's routine just rocked! I was so relieved for Tori and her friends, because they did such a great job and got a huge applause. I really think dance is going to be Tori's thing. However, basketball could be as well- Eric bought her a hoop for her b-day, and she's really good!
I am so relieved that things went well, and so tired......
Next up- a tenth b-day party and what is shaping up to be a well-populated slumber party. I'll issue reports from the field. Wish me luck.
