No, he was one of radio's original Cheese Nips. Sadly, during the '50s the group crumbled under accusations of anti-Asian racism. Brilliant work, though. They reunited briefly for an NPR retrospective in the early '70s, hoping to stir interest in a tour of concert venues. They once again ran into trouble with their name, having retooled, slightly, to become the Cheez-Its. Teen dignity groups, with heavy financial backing from the Clearasil Company, served "Those Guys," as they were known, with a cease and desist. Famously, Maynard left the group to take an hourly job as a native headhunter in Disneyland's Jungle Cruise. Over the years, his silent service to the Disney Company has advanced him to the ranks of the "Main Street Morning-Coaters," which every Disneyland Fan knows to be the pinnacle of achievement within the greater theme park community.

The story of the three remaining (1 1/2 surviving) Nips is a familiar one of betrayal, alcoholism, and food addiction, and we will not be recounting it here.

Hey evelybody! It's "those guys," Reonard, Maynard, Chollie, and Big Max, with an hour of hirarity and hi-jinks! You turn you ladio up roud and have some fun now with The Cheese Nips! - The rarely heard, original sign-on from their inaugural broadcast, August 6th, 1945.
