DVD editing software recomendations

I'm transfering 8mm home movies to DVD through a transfer box (playing the movies into the box which hits a mirror and is recorded by my digital camcorder). But these movies are from the early 60's and are pretty bad looking.

Anyone know of a easy to use and inexpensive software program that will allow me to edit, add sound, and clean up color and artifacts?

Thanks!
