I just spent the last 3 hours trying to get the wife's laptop running again. Somehow she managed to corrupt her user account. It's Windows Vista and it would come up with this error message when she tried to log onto the computer:
"The User Profile Service service failed the logon. User Profile cannot be loaded"
The problem is, that was the ONLY profile set up, so you couldn't do anything at all on it. And it was the Administrator!

I didn't know that with Vista you should always set up more than one profile, and not use admin for daily working. I don't use Vista anywhere, and don't use that laptop. Cripes!
Luckily I was able to get in on safe mode and do a system restore, back to two days ago. I then went in and made two more profile accounts.
Does everyone know about having more than one account in Vista, and I've living under a rock?
And yes, it was during Earth Hour and I had the lights on.
