Speaking of coming out-
My son's best friend told us yesterday that he is gay.
I am not even the least surprised, but it seemed like it mattered to him to tell us. To be honest I have been waiting for this to happen-he has been on the "fence" so to speak for a while-experimenting and finding himself and I had commented to Ria that I really expected him to just come out with it sometime soon.
He has told his mom, and she is supportive-doesn't change who he is to her. He can't tell his dad, he would not accept it at this point. Poor kid-
My response was pretty much the same-it doesn't change anything about who he is to us. He is here pretty much as much as he is at his own home- he is like an adopted kid around here.
Braden is rolling with it-I think he has had plenty of time to ponder the possibility and now that it's "official" he's fine with it. They are the same as always-which is good, good friends are important to keep.
I know he is going to face challenges and struggles still- and I know he knows he can come to us anytime. I hope I will know how to support and help him.
Any advice?
