As I understand it (and it's not really anything I've ever studied, or cared about, so I could be off) "Rapture" is the reward to "repentant" people, so they don't have to live in the last days of the earth, but it's not the final deadline.

The bible tells us that those who believe in Jesus Christ will be "caught up" with Christ. (The greek word for "caught up" is

Harpazo became the Latin word
Raptus which is where we get our term "rapture".) It isn't specific as to whether it will happen before the period of tribulation (described in the book of revelation) or after so of course there's much debate on the matter.
Personally, I'm hoping for before. I don't think I want to be around during the Trib.
