Okay, you asked for it....

We did the 6 course tasting menu.

Started off with the amuse bouche: a tiny ball of delicious, not at all fishy crab covered with impossibly thinly sliced avocado, resting on a pool of watermelon something or other. Served with a sparkling rose.

First course: tuna tartare on a fennel slaw with a soy dressing of some kind and microgreens. I can't recall the wine, but it was very light.

Second course: the most amazing soup I've ever had in my life and the standout course of the evening. The bowl was presented with a little rolled-up something and a spoonful of red goo. The rolled-up thingy was a duck ragu ravioli and the red goo was something red wine-ish. Then the server poured in this most amazing sweet onion veloute. I wanted to bathe in it. It was perfection. Wine was a chardonnay.

Third course: foie gras three ways. Left to right, a pate, a frisee salad with walnuts and apple vinaigrette, grilled foie gras with a red wine jelly, and a foie gras cappuccino, which we deemed the meat milkshake. Wine was a sauternes.

Fourth course: sea bass wrapped in a thin layer of chorizo on top of a barley "risotto" with grilled peppers and onions on the side and a tomato sauce poured over. It was amazing how the flavor of spice was there, but it wasn't "hot". Wine was a rioja.

Fifth course: venison with huckleberries, cabbage (I think), and pureed potatoes. At this point I was drunk. It was delicious, and the Rat was even able to eat the venison without activating his "weird meat" sensor. Wine was a red zinfandel.

Sixth course: amazing chocolate souffle which I couldn't finish because I was so stuffed and a mocha ice cream I didn't eat because it was coffee flavored. The souffle was so light and fluffy-yet-creamy. Can't remember the wine exactly, but I think it was sparkling. Again: drunk. Trouble keeping balance on way to bathroom.

The check came with six baby madeleines and chocolate sauce for dipping. I was so stuffed, but they were mostly air and lemon scented and I think I ate 5 of them.

The meal came with a "Burger Bar" cookbook for each of us.
