Dinner was amazing. Had G come down so I knew I could do some veg - and as luck would have it, I had two of those FREAKING AMAZING looking artichokes that are in the store right now, in my fridge.
So dinner was steamed artichokes, with garlic curry mayo - and G introduced a little variation that worked out amazingly well. She wanted a little vinegar to thin the mayo (apparently this was inspired by Tom's cooking), and she selected my peach white balsamic vinegar. HOLY cr@p what the peach/balsamic flavor brought to the party in the mayo! (Sadly, the
company that makes the peach balsamic has never sold it on their website)
Oh, that was just the appetizer, btw.
Then we had bratwurst and onions, and a side of potatoes au gratin.
Dessert was strawberry shortcake (shortcake from the Bisquick recipe, strawberries flavored with honey, lemon juice and some fresh mint from my garden, and topped with whipped cream)
