He was wandering the neighborhood, without a collar and not chipped, for a week. We put up notices, Craigs list, etc with no takers. We also kept our eye out for any signs of a lost dog. I know he was dumped because, sadly, it happens all of the time in certain neighborhoods - those with a large park or near the river. It's just so much better to just leave your dog then to call a rescue.
I have a client that adopted a lab. The lab was dumped on PCH near an open area. Someone connected with rescue witnessed the dumping. The lab, after being push unceremoniously out of the car, ran after the car for about a mile before collapsing. The rescue person got the dog and rushed him to the vet. His paw pads were completely torn up from running on asphalt, chasing after his people.
