I'm wondering if dress code is like what we have rockin' at my 120+ y.o. company. Though it is now okay for certain departments to skirt the "rules", I can only skirt it on Fridays, and cannot skirt it as far as other departments.

Despite being in a cube, let's just say I'm all buttoned-down and suited-up most days... suited up depending on who may or may not be roaming the office hallways.

Today is lax to the extreme as just about everyone is out of the office. I am wearing corduroys

It's not explicitly written, but the peer pressure is certainly there, and the added steps are a part of my department's culture. So only enforceable in that "societal norms" sort of way.

Hmm, but you did say enforceable dress code... we have a dress code that is in writing here, but the additional steps are those taken upon by my relatively conservative department.
