I had similar problems when I got a newer desktop - had all sorts of problems with my old router, and tried everything I could think of till I bit the bullet and purchased a new router. Problem solved. So I say option 3 is your issue.

Of course, now one of my older laptops hoses the entire network when I try to connect it wirelessly (hard wired it's fine). Freakin conspiracy of hardware manufacturers to ensure continued payouts from consumers, i say!
