GD, my hubby says stuff-into-receiver vs stuff-into-tv is mostly preference, as well as how close your stuff is to receiver or tv. Our stuff is in a cabinet on the floor, ten feet from the tv, so it works better for us to plug everything into the receiver and then run it to the tv. If you had an entertainment center with everything together, it may make more sense to run it all to the tv. Depends on how the cabling can run, that kind of thing.
