There's a whole backstory involving a failed furniture store center, food trucks, and an influx of hipsters.
But long story short, the SouthCoast Collection is fast becoming a pretty cool little place, anchored by the "OC Mart Mix", a kind of hipster swap meet that includes a bunch of specialty boutique stores, a wind and olive bar, a cheese shop, and a full-of-itself coffee bar with tasty paninis. Also in the center is a bakery with a nice selection of specialty teas, yummy cookies, and
really spectacular cakes!
There's a crunchy baby toys boutique, sushi restaurant, still a few furniture stores, a couple more restaurants on the way, and a new branch of the Chuck Jones Creativity Center opening soon.
I love seeing new interesting places like this grow, can't wait to try its various offerings.
