I am not that old but I remember when going to the theater was a million times worse....every seat involved staring upward and dodging tall people, audibly sticky floors, seats that squealed loud enough for most of the theater to hear with the tiniest shifting of weight, picture quality involving stuck hairs and dancing dust, barely stereo sound unless you were seeing some huge blockbuster, none of this an exaggeration...and yet the movies were a treat and a weekly aspiration. Only the popcorn was better, because they were still using that super-high fat coconut grease that no one knew about yet.

I still appreciate stadium seating, cup holders, movable armrests. I still wish I were at the movies every week, even though right now, if I have to pay a sitter, it will cost the two of us at least $50 to see a regular movie. Not including the not-as-good-as-it-used-to-be popcorn.
