Just to clear this up. I did not busk a cappella style but with a ukelele. Though I admit me breaking into an a cappella serenade would have been much more daring (and funny) I did in fact accompany myself on said instrument.

Parenthetically, on a dare, I did once walk into a Blockbuster Video and sing "We Built this City on Rock 'N Roll" in its entirety, as I perused the New Release section, but that was a long time ago.

When I was a kid I used to travel a lot with my father and he always brought along his guitar. It was fun for me because I got to miss school and I loved staying in hotels (still do). Anyway, at night, he would say, "Do you want to try something funny?" Then he'd grab his guitar and we would walk to the hotel restaurant (or local bar ... whatever) and he would literally stroll in playing and singing. If he spotted a stage he would walk up and switch on the mic. "Welcome to the Holiday Inn Lounge, Fresno, I'll be your entertainment for to-night ..." Usually he would get kicked out, but it was always fun.
