Obviously I'm not the best to judge such things but I think he just looks odd in those first two photos. Particuarly the first one where he looks more like Rene Auberjonois* in Deep Space Nine not having perfected replicating human faces.
But, obviously, as they say, your tardis volume may vary.
* I can't believe it. I just put that in as a place holder until I could go look up how to spell his name and I nailed it!
