Just cause I know you all care, my day with printers.
We have an older barely, and by barely I mean not more than 100 prints, used printer at the office and since we're shutting down soon I can have it. Great nice laser printer and it has two extra cartridges so I'm set for a while on black and white printing.
So I go to best buy to get a cable that goes from the printer to USB since my computer and maddies don't have old school printer ports. The nice young man tried to tell me all printers come with USB ports. I'm sorry sonny but no they do not.
Staples had one but it wasn't the right end that went into the printer. But guy there at least knew what I needed they just didn't have it. Radio Shack guy laughed and wished me good luck.
Frys one guy was clueless but sent me to a different department. Someone helped me there but they didn't have exactly what I needed but we jimmy jacked 3 different adapters together to see if we could make it work. Come home - try try try it doesn't see the printer.
Before I sledgehammer something I google. Per some random guy in Texas for some weird reason way back when on about 5 models of HP printers they used a different connector than the standard one. I of course am in possession of that model. But lovey guy from Texas has already solved my problem by linking to a place that sells the exact cable I need. And he names it so at least I know what I'm looking for now. (mini centronics)
So now printerless until the cable arrives and crossing fingers it works. Because this printer was hooked up to our Bloomberg which we got rid of at least 8 years ago and has just been sitting ever since so I have no idea if it even still works.
Now hoping that I can return the unopened HP printer cartridges for the brick to Target and at least get that refunded.
