Yes, practically the whole movie was filmed in and around El Mio. I never heard of the first "Insidious," but I'm sure going to see the sequel.
Personally, I think El Mio made a better haunted house when it was fire-ravaged, in the era of the original Dead Man's Party - but I suppose it would not work for one of those "innocent family buys a house that's haunted" movies.
It still doesn't work for me, because one look at El Mio screams Haunted House - except, well, it's not.
