I went on a small CD binge the other day. I cam report that I am in LOVE with all 4 of the CD's I purchased. Some I have in vinyl still, others are new, all are great. The selection includes:
The Knitters "The Modern Sounds Of......." 2nd album (after 20 years between the first) from member of X and The Blasters.
The Slits "Cut" Early English gilr punk band that STILL sounds great.
N.Y No Wave "The Ultimate East Village 80's Soundtrack"
Memphis Minnie "In my Girlish Days" This was a John Doe recommendation and I love it.
I also found a GREAT site for odd music called
Oddio Overplay thanks to Modern Folly. I have downloaded all of the Kresge Department Stare Soundtrack and, Like MF, am now dancing around my house (to the amusement of the cats).
