As a MOCA member I got an invite to an opening of the new show at the Geffen Contemporary,
ECSTASY In and about Altered States. It opens to members on Saturday, October 8, with a performance piece by Lara Favaretto, and DJ set by Sandra Collins.
To quote MOCA about the exhibit:
Quote:
An international survey of work by approximately 31 artists exploring altered states and alternative modes of perception, Ecstasy features painting, sculpture, video, film, installation, photography, and new media by some of today's leading artists as well as the most promising work by the up-and-coming generation. Ecstasy presents recent and specially commissioned works that challenge notions of interactivity while generating a heightened aural and visual experience for the individual.

But a picture is worth a 1000 words:

I think this might be a fun one to go to, perhaps working in a Downtown LA swanking in the mix. The show runs through February 20. Post if you are interested and I'll work out the details of this one.
