I generally celebrate solo. I take a bottle of red wine onto my front step, a cauldron of candy for the five kids that show up, and my tarot cards. I drink in the atmosphere, I think about my ancestors, and at the end of the night I pull a full spread of cards for the coming year.

Post-Samhain, I buy next year's calendar and start transferring all the crap from the old to the new- people's birthdays, dates when things are due, phone numbers, etc. This is "dead" time, so to speak, until the new year starts with Yule.

I don't usually go to parties, in part because the husband won't go with me, and in part because I feel really lame about any costume choices available. We also don't generally find out about them until later.
