Happy Birthday to the pop singer Kim Wilde, who went straight to the top of the Billboard charts in 1988 with her cover of the Supremes’ “You Keep Me Hanging On.” Wilde landed a recording contract with RAK Records in 1980, and her debut single, “Kids in America,” reached number 2 in the UK and broke into the Top 40 in the U.S. Wilde went on to release the full-length albums “Kim Wilde” (1982), “Select” (1982), “Catch as Catch Can” (1983) and “Teases and Dares” (1984), before “You Keep Me Hanging On” became a multi-platinum sensation. Wilde has not been able to replicate that success since, but has continued to record albums including “Love Moves” (1990), “Love Is” (1992), “Love Is Forever” (1995) and “Original Gold” in 1999.
Oh, and happy birthday to Leo too!
