I saw 'Narnia' the other day and thought it was just okay. There are a lot of areas where nothing is happening. Kinda boring in places. I liked Tumnus, too but found some of the shots of him with Lucy kinda creepy. Unlike CP, I loved Lucy. I thought she was fantastic.
They could have chopped half an hour off of this movie.
I liked Tilda Swinton, I always have enjoyed her acting. I saw an interview with her once that blew me away. (I wished I remembered who she was talking to, maybe Charlie Rose?) In the interview she talked about how she embraced her depression and found it an easier way to deal with it than telling herself it's bad to be sad. Wonderful. With that being said and getting around a Swinton gush fest from me, I thought that her final close up shot was almost erotic. Like she wanted the lion. Interesting choice of shots by the director. (Oh, and I loved the 'I'm unstable' take she gives the Edmund kid at one point. Lovely.)
My favorite characters were the beavers (I love my Dawn French).
I thought the battle was okay. Too brightly lit for my taste.
And my absolute favorite, favorite moment was when Ann Coulter's Oompa Loompa gets shot. Nice! Everyone in our theater laughed.
Oh yes, and I'm glad they removed the Father Christmas quote about women and wars. Bleh. I also cringed at the 'It is finished' line. It makes it seem like god smiles when you smite a lady.
