Yeah, when Lani and I moved to the Bay Area we never got cable and lived with what could come in on antenna, which was one channel (NBC).
For about six years we lived this impoverished lifestyle of watching maybe three hours of TV a week. And it was good.
Then when we moved last April we realized that for less than the price of telephone and DSL we could could have cable and cable broadband, giving up the landline we never used.
But we weren't going to go whole hog, we'd just get the bare minimum cable package. Unfortunately the cable company didn't do it right and while we only pay for the bare minimum we get standard basic cable.
I still don't watch nearly so much TV as I did before moving to the Bay Area but it is slowly creeping back in. Nothing highlights just how much almost all sitcoms are than to go a couple years without watching one.
