Two reasons, both of which I mentioned in the OP.

1. I really want to be surprised and judge things for myself. Last big change, I knew that Leota would float. How cool would it have been to walk in and see that without knowing beforehand?

I can still remember the first time I saw the HMH evil wreath hanging in the hallway, swinging a light fixture with a leafy arm and looking for all the world as if it would eat us. I had no clue it would be there, and I was surprised and delighted. Day guests have that feeling all the time - can't I at least have it once?

2. I hate being led on by rumors that turn out to be BS. What if I was told something ridiculously awesome would be in there, but it wasn't? Then whatever was in there, no matter how cool, wouldn't be as good, and I'd be disappointed. Even if it was better than advertised, I'd still feel led on and lied to.
