So, now we're totally set up. We doubled up the plastic fencing (one layer right side up, one layer upside down). That makes it stable, too heavy for him to push under, and too tall to get over. We've plugged up all the escape routes/access paths to wires, and his cage is part of the barrier. So when we're home, we just open the cage and let him have free roam in the livingroom, no worries. We're thinking that once we let him exist in this setup for a while, we may even feel confident enough that we can just never have to close up the cage.
He loves just chilling behind the vertical blinds staring out the glass door. He also likes running around behind our big chair, a great little dark tunnel for him. He's a happy bunny.
