I have a friend who woke up in the middle of the night once and was hearing this horrible scratching noise. As she started looking around the house for the source of the moise, she realized her left ear was hurting badly and she was only hearing the noise in her left ear. So she went to the emergency room, and the doctors found a cockroach had crawled down her ear canal and was scratching on her eardrum.
