Liverpool’s The Teardrop Explodes were one of the few post-punk band to achieve commercial success, with their eccentric front-man Julian Cope becoming an unlikely pin up in the early 80s. Their music was often called ‘neo-psychedelic’ due to their sixties sound and Cope’s surreal lyrics, best heard on 1980’s classic ‘Kilimanjaro’.
