4th of July was my Dad's favorite holiday. He was a closet pyro so any holiday where you're allowed to set fire and blow things up was a-ok in his book.

I miss sparklers and all those other cheesy home fireworks. None are allowed here. One year when they were banned at home because of fire danger my Dad lit us road flares to use as sparklers - wasn't really the same.

Other holidays not such a big deal at our house but we always went to a parade, had a picinic and watched fireworks for the 4th. My Dad would weasel anything to get the day off of work. Once he even accidentally cut off part of a finger two days before, the joke was he'd do anything to get the day off.

Here's to America and my Dad!
