Maybe that helped me not be disappointed. I did not have high hopes for this movie. In all the history of sequels (to quality movies) there are only a handful that are of approximately the same quality as the first film and only two* that (in my opinion, of course) really surpasses the first -
The Empire Strikes Back and
Aliens.
So my assumption is that a sequel will be worse than the original. I don't think that
Dead Man's Chest is as good as
Curse of the Black Pearl but then I wasn't expecting it to be and perhaps as a result this means I am happy with as well as it turned out.
*I also consider
Babe: Pig in the City to be vastly superior to the first one but most people look at me like I've a third head when I say that so I keep it my little secret.
