Text books are expensive. At anywhere from $100-$300 a pop, classroom sets (say, 30 books) cost $3000-$9000. How many classrooms are in a school? That's an investment of a few hundred thousand dollars, easy.

When I went to school, we were issued books that we kept and returned at the end of the year. But budgets are getting tight.
