Jean-Jacques Perrey is by no means a household name, yet if you've lived in Southern California for any length of time, you've heard his music. One of the pioneers of the synthesizer, Perrey was composing and arranging pieces using only layered synths practically as soon as the instruments were available. It's his music and performance you hear in Disneyland's famous Electric Parade. The 77-year-old French musician was pals with Salvador Dali, Jacques Brel and Jean Cocteau, worked with French artists ranging from Edith Piaf to Air, and his music has been sampled by Dr. Dre, Fatboy Slim, DJ Premier and many more.
