In that everyone else had at least a cameo moment of obvious character closure, it really seemed more like a series finale ... and I am sorta satisfied. (Though, of course, thrilled that there might be wrap-up miniseries).
The finale also cleverly eschewed the uncharacteristic shoot'em-up being implied all season ... and went instead with the show's forte of shrewd character interactions, sizzling dialogue, intense suspense and mortal drama.
My potty-mouth will likely improve with time ... but, other than that, I think 3 seasons was hardly enough ... and there's a part of me that feels sorta Dead now there's no more Deadwood.

I agree wholeheartedly with everything you said. I loved how tense but calm the finale was. I suppose the episode prior was the more climatic, but this was just as shimmering and equally alarming.
We will likely get to see Doc die of consumption in the mini-series, which will just about kill me.
