Bummer, I was hoping you'd enjoy it as much as I did.
I don't have a lot of time here for huge review stuff but here are a couple comments:
Spoiler:
Usually I get annoyed in stories when characters have too many personality flaws. I like strong, smart characters and I want to see the best in people. (This is why I usually hate adult fiction.) In this book, I felt that their flaws were realistic, and that I could not have acted better in their situation. They hide as much "future" as they can from each other. While they slip up a lot, it's obvious that keeping up the pretence of real time perfectly is impossible. They seemed human to me. I absolutely adored Henry.
I think the one thing that allows me to believe that Claire actually loves him (and isn't just forced into it) is her jelousy of "his wife". I know it is constructed this way, same way they "explain" how you can't prevent certain things from happening. Still, I felt it believable enough. I think the worst of the problematic time scheme is "He didn't know it, so I can't tell him." That is the one thing I rolled my eyes at, especially in regard to the pregnancy.
Anyway. I loved this book. The absolute desperation of most of it left me breathless. I couldn't put it down, as I had to know what would happen "next". I thought the web of occurences were skillfully blended, keeping just enough secrets and giving up just enough information at any given point.
More later. Oh, and do we really need spoiler tags in this thread?
