Yet another Alaskan trip....

So tomorrow we fly to Seattle, and Sunday it's our turn to cruise the Wilds of Alaska. I'll pop out of the casino and bars periodically and take pictures of bears and stuff, okay? Don't y'all miss me too much or anything.

Prudence, if it makes you feel any better, it's supposed to be rather soggy all week.

Best of luck to you!!! Sorry I've been coughing up a lung and have yet to finish my report. I'm sure you will have a great time! Get some sleep before you go and don't stay up all night packing like I did...

Ps. Did I mention my big win? I won the ships blackjack tourney for $500! Woo hoo! and I don't even play blackjack...

Wtg on the win, Moon!!!! I am trying to get things done ahead of time, but I've so damn much to do.... Since posting this thread, I've packed Eric's dress clothes (He took 'resort casual' a little too literally) and washed two loads of laundrey. I've cleaned the aviary, cat boxes, fish tank, ironed clothes for tomorrow, written a 'how to run this house' list for my sainted sis, who will be taking care of our furry, feathery and finny brood, and slugged back a couple of Stoli and cranberry drinks.

I have to work until two tomorrow, then I am coming back home, doing last minute prepping and cleaning, then we are off to the airport! I am excited, but I have to admit my good mood is tempered by the catastrophe down south. As a family,we've agreed to do whatever we can to help out- my 70 year old MIL has already signed up to go with her church in the spring to help with rebuilding efforts. We are also considering offering a place to stay for any family that wants to move away from the area. We have loads of room, and lots of stuff to help a family start anew. Anyway, I suppose that's all info for another thread. I am sure we'll have fun, but I feel guilty at the same time. I'm very, very tired too- that doesn't help matters. At any rate, I will try and do as Prudence did, and post from the ship. Perhaps I'll check out the Swanky places and focus on them.

I'm very jealous of your trip, regardless of the mood in the country right now. You deserve a vacation and you will have a good time. The effort to rebuild things in the South will be on-going. There will be plenty to do for months to come. Have fun!

I should have posted this earier for you, but here is my list of extras we packed:

Ziplock bags. Used them for ice packs on day trips and to take along some ship food on hikes and the like

Power strips (2) - We had lots of electronics, and not many plugs in a cabin

Binoculars one pair per person if possible

Cheap plasitc rain panchos.

FRS family radios (worked well on the ship)

Asprin/Decongentent (just in case)

Book Lights for nighttime in a very small cabin

Good luck and have fun!

Thanks, Moon! I think I've got everything on that list, except the family radios. I think the only thing I haven't got at this point is sleep.

We wished we'd packed more shorts. Then again, it was 92 when we went.

You MUST go to the magic show. There was one evening show and one mid-day show on Saturday. Trust me. It was amazing. And the magician is actually a really nice guy. Go early and get a good seat. I think they may be the only shows that are one-time-only events -- not twice a night like the rest. Sight lines suck from the balcony -- you want to be on the floor.

Hi all! Posting from the Internet Cafe, and viewing some lovely glaciers as well. The cruise has been great so far- we've hit Juneau (rainy), Skagway (blustery) and are now in Glacier Bay. Tori is in the Kids Crew group (yeah!) and is having a blast. We did not bring toomany shorts, and I'm glad- it's only about 55 or so every day.

We saw the magic show, and have met the magician several times via interactions with his cute little girl and Tori. Very nice family, and very precocious little girl they have! (She's nearly five-going on fifteen...). Spent some time in the casino last night- still own our house, but didn't exactly win ****. (Ohh- I did get a lovely keychain, though. Only cost me about twenty bucks). This is my first time on the comp, as it is a bit expensive, but so far it seems pretty speedy. Going through LoT withdrawels and miss talking to you all- hope everyone is doing well and wilol try and check back later!

(PS-Prudence, did you amass a new set of drink glasses as well? So far we have about six of the mid-size glass keepers).
