Odd Network problem

Ok, I'm having a problem I can't figure out.

I can connect from my modem to my laptop and get on the internet, and my computer and log into my router, but I cannot connect from my wireless to the internet (when my wireless signal on my laptop has full strength and an network address).

The cord works (modem to router cord is what I use to go modem to PC). I reset the router to factory settings.

The wireless has a full signal, and it connects (aquires an address) but when I attempt to go on the internet I get the page not found error (on google, LoT and any other page I attempt to hit).

Ideas?

Do IPCONFIG at the DOS prompt and confirm you're getting an IP address. Sometimes my wireless modem says it has connected but it hasn't actually received one.

OK, this problem is happening again. I have not changed any settings, and it was working last night when I went to bed. I restarted, shut down and powered off my modem. My router has the proper lights going but the modem is sporadic.

Ideas?

Power fluctuations? Try a power strip with surge protection (it will be more expensive than a standard power strip).

Other appliances in the vicinity? I believe there are some cordless telephones that operate on a frequency that can interfere with wireless networking.

Older cordless phones that work on the 2.4GHz frequency will seriously muck up WiFi, as will most any microwave oven less than two years old.

I ended up with the newer phone. It's the modem, not the router this time. I think it's dead. Someone told me Cox is not supporting the older modems, and I need to call and see if mine is on the replacement list.

I can connect to the wireless network but not get on the internet, even directly plugged in.
