My iPod is frozen.

My computer was having some trouble so I re-started it. The computer was having some trouble coming back up and I realized my external drive and iPod were still plugged in.

Silly me, I unplugged the hard drive and the iPod despite the "do not disconnect" message being displayed. Now the iPod is frozen on the "do not disconnect" screen.

What I already did:

Follow the steps on the iPod site to reboot the iPod. I had it unplugged, plugged into the wall and plugged into the computer. Nothing. iTunes isn't recognizing it either.

Other than letting the battery die, any suggestions?

I've seen it happen where the reboot didn't work, then - it magically did. Set it down for a few and try it again. Plug it into the wall and leave it there for a while, then revisit the re-boot technique.

Did you reset the iPod? (Hold in the center button and "menu" at the same time until the apple icon appears on the screen) I've had to do this a few times.

That's weird. I had problems with my iPod today too! It froze while playing in shuffle mode. I couldn't get it to stop playing. Nor could I turn it off or access the menu. I did the reset thing, and it was fine.

I did all the resets I could find on the iPod site - holding the menu and the middle button, holding the menu and the bottom button. Did it plugged in to the wall, the computer and not plugged into anything.

I plugged it back in to the wall, and will try before I go to bed. If that doesn't work I'll drain the battery.

Oh, did you move the little switch on the top back and forth a couple of times? After doing the menu & middle button, that is... then doing the middle & menu button again.
