Vuh-gin-ya y'all (and DC)

Goin back to visit some friends, flyign into Dulles on a Red-eye, so we will have a full day in DC on Friday, 2 days in Virginia with friends, adn then the last day monday, about a half day in each place!

So, besides the blatantly obvious, what is the best to see in DC on a 1 day trip?

My favorite things about DC were the Smithsonian museums - specificially the Air and Space Museum. I was there quite a while ago, but as an antsy 15 year old spending 6 weeks in a car with my parents, DC was a wonderful surprise. I even asked my parents to stay an extra day so we could see more.

The monuments were interesting, but the museums were absolutely fascinating.

You might check out the new Museum of the American Indian. I haven't been, but I hear it's really cool, and the architecture is beautiful.
