Jon Bon Jovi and Friends review
Even after being home and back to normal life I'm finding it mighty difficult to put into words of the most amazing experience of seeing a Jon Bon Jovi and Friends solo show. It was my first and definitely will NOT be my last show. In fact I really think Jon was able to really let loose and play not only his favorite covers but the band's music as well.
My 6th row seat was PERFECT. The one and only time I really dressed up wearing a skirt and black with pink sequins top since everyone around me was either VIP's or paid big $$$$ to have the same seat area. I really think the lighting made my top sparkle even more so because I did manage not only David Cook's attention but of course Jon's. I won't get into the negative aspects of my trip (with a so called friend of mine) nor being alone for most of my trip and sick but the show really made me forget everything. My signs (Ty Matt) were a big hit including during the cover song "I'm Your Man" when I held up my JBJ (heart)ALWAYS sign. He noticed it and put his hand over his heart, smiled at me, then shook his head while smiling and then I screamed and he had this huge grin/smile on his face. ![]() ![]() Hearing Living On A Prayer acoustic and live just made me say OMG and when Jon held the one note for what seemed like eternity I just can't listen to the original the same way. Funny moment was during Lost Highway when he forgot the lyrics to the start of the 2nd verse. After the song ended he told the audience "when it comes to cover songs I can remember the lyrics but when it comes to my own songs I forget the lyrics". I could go on and on but those are some of the highlights. He opened the show with So You Want To Be a Rock and Roll Star and ended the show with 634-5789. I'm in the process of uploading my pictures onto Flickr. I took over 500 but about 360 came out. I would have taken more actually but was trying to enjoy the show as well. |

I always love hearing acoustic versions of songs. So much more heart.

Acoustic versions usually are. At first my mouth dropped open. I couldn't believe what my ears were hearing. I usually love the original rock version but what i heard was just so unbelievable for me really. I really hope that i get to hear more acoustic songs from Jon in the future.
It was great to see Jon really let loose with the cover songs and have a blast up on stage other than the regular band's setlist during tour time. He really did seem to have a good time and most of the audience down front seemed to show him that we were as well. I don't think i ever danced and sang so much not even at a regular Bon Jovi show. The two hours seemed to go by super fast but yet super slowly. I wasn't sure how long of a show we were to get because it was just Jon Bon Jovi and Friends and not the whole band. I really really want to go to another Jon Bon Jovi and Friends show again. Jon did covers like "Nothin But a Party", "Pretty Woman", "Chain of Fools", "I'm Your Man"(my favorite so far),"Old Time Rock and Roll, (like i previously stated started the show with "So You Want To Be a Rock and Roll Star", "Under Pressure", "Sympathy For the Devil", "Start Me Up", "Baba O'Riley", "Good Times", "The Letter", and ending the show with "634-5789 and telling the audience that we can pick up the phone and call him that's his number...lol |

Ya I liked the mix of cover songs actually because not really knowing what would be played. He did give us a variety. Plus he did seems to really have fun and I know I did out in the audience despite those so called fans sitting down a lot (hey better view when they did).
I did feel bad when the two girls to my right left BEFORE Jon did Hallelujah. That song is definitely NOT to be missed if he does it at a show. Oh well their loss. That's why you NEVER leave until the house lights come up. |
